Safety guide

Most castings are exactly what they say they are. These habits keep it that way, and they apply wherever you find work, not only here.

Before you say yes

  • Never pay to be cast. A real client pays you. Application fees, “registration” charges and paid portfolio shoots offered as a condition of a job are red flags.
  • Check who is asking. Look for a company website, a business address and people you can find elsewhere. A brief from a free email address with no company behind it deserves questions.
  • Get it in writing. Date, call time, location, usage (where the images will run and for how long), rate, payment date and cancellation terms should be on paper before you travel.
  • Agree the brief’s limits in advance. Nudity, lingerie, swimwear, body painting and any change to the brief on the day must be agreed in writing beforehand. You can decline a change on set at any time.

Getting paid

  • Be wary of anyone who sends a cheque or transfer for more than the fee and asks you to return the difference. That is a standard overpayment scam.
  • Agree the payment date and method up front, and keep your own copy of the contract and every invoice.
  • If you are travelling, confirm who pays for flights, accommodation and transport, and when, before you book anything.

On the day

  • Tell someone you trust where you are going, who with and when you expect to be back.
  • Meet at a studio, venue or office, not a private home or hotel room. If you are under pressure to change the location, treat that as an answer.
  • Bring someone with you if you can. A professional client will not mind.
  • You may leave at any time. Your safety matters more than a booking.

Age

Meridian Models is for adults. Anyone under 18 should not register, and no casting here should ever ask a minor for anything.

If something goes wrong

If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then report the casting or person to us with as much detail as you can, so we can act and protect others.
